I am a final year student of the University of Advancing Technology located in Tempe, Arizona and i'm majoring in Network  Security and Technology Forensics program areas of study. As a first child of my parent, I was born in raised in the West African country of Ghana where my passion had been problem solving through the development of innovate solutions. I am a proud resident of the state of California where I have spent the last seven years of my life living with my family.

My Community Contribution

My community in the state of California is a very diverse and an amazing contributor socio-economically. The community in the city of Los Angeles where I reside itself is very resourceful with youths that do great things to help and assist the rest of its people when needed whether it means to volunteer in organizations. One of such organizations that is always ready to help the community in any instances of emergencies and civil unrest is the state of California national guard and I am proud to be a serving member. The Army National Guard is the reservist military branch of the Army that serves the state and the Nation when needed.

I have been serving in the California Army National Guard for the past 4 years now and in all my experiences as a soldier, there is nothing more rewarding besides serving my Country but also my community most importantly whenever I get the chance to volunteer. The national guard has a strong bond which exist between its organization and the community. Throughout my part-time service in the National Guard, I’ve had the pleasure of obtaining valuable skills which had allowed me in joining fellow soldiers in response to any unfortunate occurrences whether it means to answer the call when needed to assist our fire departments in fighting fires which unfortunately is very prevalent during hot seasons in California.

Another last contribution of my volunteerism as a citizen-soldier of my community was dedicated to becoming a suicide interventionist. Suicide is notably very common in the military community and because of that I and a select few of my fellow soldiers was part of an initiative to undergo a 15 hours suicide prevention program to help alleviate the high rate of suicide which is very apparent in the community once again. The program is designed to train and certify volunteer soldiers like myself and others on the intervention skills to approach,  listen and assist our fellow buddies in risk of suicide with the right professional help so that they don’t feel alone to follow through with the risk of danger to themselves and others around them.

While most of my community volunteerism had generally been about my military experience and little to do with technology, it won’t be fun if I forget to made it known also that I did get to volunteer for the very first time last year as a conference associate for Black hat 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. That was truly a great experience that I enjoyed working for, which is one of the greatest and renowned security hacker conference in the global industry of Cyber Security. I was proud to be part of a great team of other conference associates and staff that made it possible for the successful hosting of the conference.

All my volunteerism experience whether through my military background in the National Guard and that of my community in the state of California or even working with a team of great people in hosting a security conference had taught nothing less than the great principles of teamwork, strong bond relation and great knowledge that I’ve been be able utilized towards my studies and degree pursue here at UAT. I have also been well inspired by all these experiences from my community contribution which has been well applicable towards the development of my school innovative project as a way to creating a solution that would help solve some of the threat issues existing in the Cyber Security world.
